Artist Research 4

The artist I chose to look into more was Carolee Schneemann who had her hand in painting, photography, video, performance art and even installations.  She is truly a jack of all trades when it comes to art.  Through her life she has had exhibitions from Los Angeles and San Fransisco to New York and even across the Atlantic to Paris.  For many women artist at the time when she was starting to create art it was very difficult to get museums and the public to except her art as art.  Which in our day of age it is important to not only women but men in art that owe women like Carolee Schneemann a debt of gratitude.

I looked a little closer into one of her installations/performance art pieces called Fresh Blood: A Dream Morphology.  This piece was suppose to convey the normative of the feminine body which at that time in 1981-1987 many women artists were insulted for being nude in their art and not excepted as a true art.  This piece had her go into much more than the sexual aspect it also covered race and political boundaries.
