Artist Research 2

The artist I chose to do research on is Heather Hart. From my research it seems Hart takes many traditional things that people see everyday and skews them in her own way.  She presents these everyday objects or structures in a way that people would never expect to see them being displayed.  One of the pieces she did that accentuates this is her Rooftops series.  These pieces are just the construction of a rooftop on the ground.  When seeing these pieces it looks as if the rest of the house should be buried underneath the ground.

With one of Hart's rooftops "Oracle of Lacuna" at Storm King Art Center, NY is placed outside where people go to walk on top of the roof and even concerts have been performed on top of them.  I think that these pieces are suppose to present something that many people take for granted and make them walk on top.  This idea of a roof that you can walk on top of so easily I think that it signifys not everyone has a roof over their head.
